The PKP SM25 series was a shunting locomotive of the Polish railway PKP.

History

Since 1959, the Polish Railway planned a diesel locomotive with a diesel- hydraulic drive to build. The use of diesel-hydraulic power transmission was already provided for the parallel developed railcar SN80. The SM25 series was made ​​in 1961 the first Polish locomotive with hydraulic power transmission. By 1963, a total of three specimens were prepared in the Polish Fablok plants in Chrzanów. The production of other locomotives in 1963 discarded because there were problems when importing gear from the German company Voith. They were given the vehicle numbers SM25 -001, SM25 and SM25 -002 -003.

All three locomotives were stationed in Krakow and used from there for shunting. In 1973 they were retired and shut down. SM25 -002 was the railway museum Warsaw passed and exhibited there.

Construction and Technology
