Plainview is the capital and the county seat ( county seat ) of the Hale County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the northwest of Texas, on the border with Texas Panhandle, at the junction of Interstate 27 with U.S. Highways 87 and 70 as well as Highway 194, is around 85 kilometers north of Lubbock and 125 km south of Amarillo located and has a total area of 35.7 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 22,336 people in 7,626 households and 5,666 families. The population density was 625.8 inhabitants per km ².
