Plaisance (Gers)
Plaisance ( Gascon: Plasença ) is a commune with 1466 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Gers in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The municipality is part of the arrondissement Mirande and is the capital ( chef-lieu ) of the Canton of Plaisance.
Geography
Plaisance is on the river Arros, approximately 43.5 km west of Auch and about 54 kilometers southeast of Mont -de- Marsan.
History
Plaisance was established on the foundations of an ancient village of Count Jean I de Armagnac as Bastide.
