Plamondon (Montreal Metro)

Plamondon is a metro station in Montreal. It is located in the district of Côte- des-Neiges -Notre- Dame-de- Grâce at the intersection of Avenue Plamondon Avenue and Victoria. Building

Designed by Patrice Gauthier station was built in the form of a tunnel station. Since it has two entrances at opposite ends of the platforms, the architect lifted this feature out in color. In the southern part of the station red prevails in the northern blue. This color scheme was also for decorative curved concrete elements and the walls of the distribution levels are used. Other decorative elements are backlit glass bricks, flooring tiles with different patterns and the use of lots of chrome steel. The southern entrance is located in a free standing glass pavilion, the northern one is integrated into a block of flats.

In 23.8 meters depth, the platform level is with two side platforms. The distances to the neighboring stations, each station measured from end to beginning station, amount to 988.47 meters to 451.10 meters to Namur and Côte- Sainte -Catherine. There are connections to three bus routes and two night bus of the Société de transport de Montréal.

History

The opening of the station took place on 29 June 1982 fro along with the short section of Côte- Sainte -Catherine. Slightly more than one and a half years was Plamondon the western terminus of the orange line until it was extended to Du Collège on 9 January 1984. It is named after the Avenue Plamondon. After whom this street was named, is not certain. Either it is the painter Antoine Plamondon (1804-1895) or to the singer Rodolphe Plamondon ( 1875-1940 ).
