Planer (metalworking)

Planers are used by cutting both the wood and in metal working.

In contrast to the shock machine the workpiece takes place the chisel the feed motion. This can also be achieved long cuts. Disadvantage is the large power requirement, which is caused by the reverse acceleration of the table and workpiece mass.
