Plantu

Jean Plantureux ( born March 23, 1951 in Paris ) is one of the most famous political cartoonist of France. Under the stage name Plantu he has worked since 1972 for the daily newspaper Le Monde since 1991 for the weekly L' Express.

Life

After completing his schooling at the Lycée Henri IV, he studied for two years human medicine and transferred in 1971 to the École Saint- Luc in Brussels to take courses in drawing. On 1 October 1972 he was able to publish his first cartoon in the newspaper Le Monde. In 1974, Le Monde diplomatique, where he took up issues with the Third World in a critical manner.
