Plasne

Plasne is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Plasne is located at 580 m above sea level. M., about 18 km northeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the western part of the plateau Caledonia (first Jura plateau ), a scenic location high above the plains of the Saone.

The area of ​​7.76 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by the level of the plateau Caledonia, the average at 550 m above sea level. History

The municipality of Plasne was already inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period. A chapel is first recorded in writing in the 13th century. The place name derives from the French word plaine ( level). Together with the Franche -Comté Plasne came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church has a tower, which was rebuilt in the 18th century.

Population

With 243 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Plasne is one of the small towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1876 412 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Plasne was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises.
