Plastic wrap

Cling films are soft, very smooth plastic sheets of PVC or PE, which adhere to smooth surfaces without adhesive. Such liability is caused by loose molecular bonds (van der Waals bonds ) between the boundary layers of the surfaces of the film and the material on which it rests. Thus, these weak forces exert a noticeable effect, the contact area must be as large as possible, which is given only when really smooth surfaces such as those of glass, porcelain, polished metal and some plastics. By multiple wrapping it sticks to itself

Very thin adhesive films made of polyethylene are used in the food industry as a cling film. Slightly thicker films are used for example as a transport protection for electronic displays, as identification labels or as promotional stickers in shop windows. They can be easily removed without residue and most reuse.
