Platinum Collection (English for " Platinum Collection ") is a 2004 published collection of the most important pieces from all three decades of the career of the British rock band Genesis. After his 1999 Turn It On Again - The Hits, which focused exclusively on the single releases, this new compilation should constitute a representative cross-section of the Genesis plant. So 40 pieces of all Genesis studio albums with the exception of the first work, From Genesis to Revelation are represented on the 3 CDs. The pieces are sorted from newest to oldest, so that one moves during continuous listening through all three parts of the recent period to the beginning. An exception is the title track of 1997's Studio Plate Calling All Stations, which would have to be track 1 on CD 1 according to this logic, but in fact is the last piece on CD 1. This leaves the ambiguous attitude of the band themselves for their preliminary final studio output imagine. 23 tracks have been subjected by the Genesis producer Nick Davis a comprehensive remix. Such new versions will make the Platinum Collection therefore also for the fans who have all the albums already on the shelf, interesting. Most remixes win the pieces from a new depth and a richness of detail, which led to some surprise or discovery of forgotten or underrated pieces. Parallel to the 3- CD -Boxset DVD The Video Show, which presented all the promo clips of Genesis for the first time on this medium appeared.

If the singles and radio-friendly pieces of more commercial phase have a certain preponderance on the first CD, the Platinum Collection its claim as a collective work shop is quite fair. In this sense also includes the printed in the CD booklet accompanying set of British music critic Hugh Fielder: " Maybe this, Platinum Collection 'is as close as it gets to a final Genesis album. "
