The Office Plau am See is located in the east of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). In this office five municipalities have joined forces to do their administrative business. The administrative headquarters is located in Plau am See.
On 1 July 2004, the Office was formed Plau am See from five municipalities of the dissolved Office Plau - country and the formerly independent city official Plau am See. On 1 January 2011 the then independent municipality Karow was incorporated into the city Plau am See.
The office area is located east of Parchim in a hilly moraine landscape. It is bordered on the east by the great Mecklenburg Lakes and on the north by the Natural Park Nossentin / Schwinzer Heath. The office area is crossed by the Müritz- Elde waterway. In the south, bordering the office area to the State of Brandenburg, on the north by the Office Goldberg Mildenitz, on the west by the Office Eldenburg Lübz and on the east by the county of Mecklenburg Lake District. The largest lake in the office area is the Plau. The book is Gnevsdorf mountain at above sea level by 118 m. HN is the highest elevation.
In addition to agriculture and the use of wind energy, tourism especially at Plau plays an increasing role.
Through the Office Plau the federal highway 191 leads ( Ludwig pleasure Plau am See) and the B 103 ( Kyritz -Rostock ). South of the office area, the Federal Highway runs the Federal Highway 24, east of which 19
