Plaza de Cibeles

The Plaza de Cibeles is one of busy square in Madrid, Spain, and is located at the intersection of Calle Alcalá, Paseo de Recoletos and Paseo del Prado. It is a place with character maps view for the Spanish capital.

In the middle of the square is the famous Fuente de Cibeles. It is dedicated to the Greek goddess Cybele, which stands for the earth, agriculture and fertility. The goddess is seated on a chariot drawn by lions. The fountain was built in 1782. For this, the sculptor Francisco Gutiérrez were (for the God figure and the car ) and Roberto Michel ( for the Lions ) and decorator Miguel Ximénez responsible (for the total jewelery).

In the Plaza de Cibeles Real Madrid celebrates his triumphs, such as winning the league or the Champions League.

The current space was originally called Plaza de Madrid, until he was renamed around 1900 in Plaza de Castelar. There are famous buildings such as the Palacio de Buenavista on the four sides of the square ( the headquarters of the army ), the Palacio de Linares and the Palacio de Comunicaciones, which is the seat of the Municipality of Madrid since 2007. In 2011 the building was renamed the Palacio de Cibeles.
