Formation

The song was done by John Lennon, who called two starting points for his composition. Firstly Bing Crosby's song Please, that the line of text "Please lend your ears to my pleas" contained, with Lennon the double use of the word " Please" very pleased. On the other hand played Roy Orbison's special style of singing a role. Lennon described the piece in his interview with David Sheff for Playboy magazine in 1980 as " [ ... ] attempt to write a Roy Orbison song [ ... ] " after he had lying part of an Orbison song in bed.

George Martin's assistant Ron Richards recalled that the Beatles Please Please Me already presented during the recording sessions for Love Me Do on 4 September 1962.
