Plech lies on the southern edge of the Franconian Switzerland nature park.

History

The first mention was in 1119 at the founding of the monastery Michel box. Already in 1329 the site was designated as a market. From 1355 to 1402 Plech was under the rule of Bohemia. The Office of the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth since 1792 was from 1500 in the Frankish Empire circle. It was with this in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810. Plech had market rights with important intrinsic rights. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Ottenhof was incorporated.
