Plectopylidae

The Plectopylidae are a family of snails from the subordination of terrestrial snails ( gastropod ). The extant representatives are native to South and Southeast Asia. The family contains about 100 extant species.

Features

The housings are very strongly flattened to nearly flat spiral. You are right-handed or with linksgewunden to 7 turns. In cross-section, the windings are usually round or approximately round. The mouth may have fins, plicae or calli. In most cases the mouth is very oblique to the winding plane or drops from the turns. In hermaphroditic genital apparatus of the penis is clearly divided into two parts by a constriction. The upper part has an inner wall with a regular pattern of nodes. Each node has a central recess in which sits a little chalky mandrel. In contrast, the lower part has weak, irregular folds. The epiphallus is rather short with a thickened lower part and a more filiform upper part. The vas deferens is relatively long and runs freely. The oviduct and the vagina are about the same length. The stem of the spermathecae is thickened thin and basal.

Geographical distribution and behavior
