The Plenty Highway is a highway in the southeast of Australia's Northern Territory. It connects the Stuart Highway north of Alice Springs with the Donohue Highway in the west of the state of Queensland.

It is with their entire length part of the Outback Highway, which runs 2800 km through the center of Australia.

Course

The track branches off the Stuart Highway ( N87 ) 69 km north of Alice Springs from, initially runs for 27 km to the north and then bends to the east. It runs along the north side of the Harts Range and crosses the Plenty River, from which it takes its name, as well as the Marshall River. On the border to Queensland he goes over to the east of the settlement Tobermorey in the Donohue Highway, which continues to Boulia.

The highest point in the course of the highway is at 706 m, the lowest 169 m.

Road conditions and gas stations

Only the first 100 km to Ongeva Creek are paved. The rest of the route is unpaved and marked by deep potholes and bulldust ( fine red desert dust). The condition can be obtained from the Harts Range Police Station, 112 km east of the Stuart Highway. Food, water and fuel are available in Gem Tree, Harts Range, Jervois Homestead and Tobermorey.

Gas stations there are in the Gem Tree Caravan Park, Harts Range, in Jervois and Tobermorey.
