Plobsheim

Plobsheim is a commune with 3985 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. Partner community is Port-Sainte -Foy- et- Ponchapt in the Dordogne.

History

The village was first mentioned in 778 as Bladbolsheim documented in the will of the Bishop Remigius of Strasbourg. With the division of the kingdom came to the East Frankish kingdom Plobsheim 843. 1416 Emperor Sigismund gave the village Johann wrath of corner Rich as a fief. It stayed connected for more than 2 centuries with the family. In 1562 the family took anger at the Lutheran faith, and so also the village became Lutheran. The castle, built in 1590, is since 1836 owned by the municipality and is now used as a school house.
