Plodda is a district of the municipality Muldestausee district Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Plodda located between Leipzig and Wittenberg on the edge of Duebener heath near the trough reservoir.

History

The name comes from the Old Slavic Plodda and means " Blato " = forest swamp. Settled Slavic ethnic groups in the region around the year 600. 1388 emerged the place name in a document, later in 1586 and in 1607 a map of Saxony on.

On the boundaries of the " Krassinwiesen " was once the Slavic Webersdorf Krasin. This village with only few inhabitants soon disappeared in the darkness of history. Likewise Plodda has become desolate in the years 1466-1493 and deserted. It is likely that the raging at that time in the region plague that killed people. Only in the 17th century there was a new settlement. The few families who were re- established here, subsisted mainly on agriculture.

In the Thirty Years' War Plodda was completely destroyed.

In 1869, the town got its bell. This weighs only 100 kg and has a lower diameter of 53 cm. Even in the ancient village chronicle states: " It is unique in its construction in the whole area. "

Since 1 January 2010, the formerly independent municipality Plodda part of the unified community Muldestausee. The former municipality was a member of the administrative community Muldestausee pain creek.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms contains the symbol of the village - the freestanding in the wooden belfry bell. The split in heraldic tinctures mistook shield builds on the historical coat of arms colors of Saxony, to the Plodda once belonged.

The coat of arms was designed in 1994 by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch.

The flag is yellow and black striped ( cross flag: Stripes from left to right, Hissflagge: stripes running from top to bottom). The coat of arms of the municipality is centrally placed on the flag.

Transport links

Right on the site passes the highway 100 of Bitterfeld -Wolfen to Wittenberg. The nearest railway station is on the railway line Burgkemnitz Bitterfeld- Wittenberg, about five kilometers northwest of Plodda. Bus number 440 regional transport Bitterfeld- Wolfen is weekdays a direct bus service to the town of Bitterfeld -Wolfen.
