PLOS Pathogens, abbreviated PLOS Pathog. , Is a scientific journal published by the Public Library of Science. The first issue appeared in September 2005, it is published monthly. Published studies that deal with pathogens and the interaction with the host organism. Topics include, inter alia, innate and acquired defense mechanisms of the immune system ( new) occurring pathogens, pathogen -cell biology, pathogenesis, prions, rational vaccine development and virulence factors.
