Plouay

Plouay is a commune with 5293 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It is located about 15 kilometers north of Lorient, in the canton of Plouay in the Arrondissement Lorient. Twin town in Germany is Küps.

Far beyond France Plouay is known as a stronghold of cycling. Since 1931, the Grand Prix Ouest France takes place here, a one-day race of the UCI ProTour. In addition Plouay hosted the UCI Road World Championships 2000 and stage of the Tour de France in 1998 and 2002.
