Plug valve

A plug valve, also called a rotary plug valve, swivel body valve or a rotary valve, is one of the oldest types of valve. A cone with a hole through which the liquid is / gas flow, is mounted in a seat. By pivoting about 90 °, the plug valve is opened. The sealing surface is the conical surface between the seat and the rotatable member. This is also the biggest disadvantage of this type of valve, namely that required for actuating force is relatively large ( if the valve is to remain tight against the outside ), compared to other types. The advantage is the ease of manufacture of the parts.

Chick valves are often found as a tap for beer, wine barrels and rain barrels. Furthermore, it is often found in laboratory glassware.
