Plummer–Vinson syndrome

Under the Plummer- Vinson syndrome (also sideropenic dysphagia, Paterson -Brown - Kelly syndrome ) refers to a symptom complex trophic disorders that are specifically induced by iron deficiency. It is named after the U.S. internists and endocrinologists Henry Stanley Plummer (1874-1936) and the U.S. surgeon Porter Paisley Vinson (1890-1959) named.

Occur mucosal defects, angular cheilitis ( cracks in the corners of the mouth ), brittle nails and hair, burning tongue and dysphagia ( difficulty swallowing) by larger mucosal defects. The disease continues to be a risk factor for the development of endogenous a squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus ( esophageal ).
