Plymouth is a town in Richland County and Huron County in the U.S. state of Ohio. The part of the municipality in Richland County belongs to statistically Mansfield metropolitan area, the other part in Huron County is part of the Norwalk Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Plymouth comprised 1,852 inhabitants in the census in 2000.
Geography
The northern part of Plymouth is located in New Haven Township, Huron County, the southern half is located in Plymouth Township and is therefore part of Richland County. While there is a uniform police for the entire municipality, the case-law but from two different courts, which are located in the County Seats. Administrative center of Huron County is Norwalk, Richland County is managed by Mansfield out.
The main street is called in the west of the municipality to Sandusky Street West Broadway Street, in the East East Main Street, its continuation west and east outside of Plymouth, however Baseline Road is named because it forms the Countygrenze and separates Huron County of Richmond County.
Economy
From 1910, more than 7,500 small industrial locomotives were built in the Plymouth Locomotive Works, before the company was sold in 1997. Since then, no new locomotives will be more prepared, but sold only spare parts for older locomotives. From these models are still an estimated 1,700 in operation, which can be up to 50 years old.
In addition, even automobiles were manufactured by Plymouth, before Chrysler introduced its Plymouth models on the market. Also known are the Silver King tractors that were built there until 1950. Even today there are in place every year in early August, a festival, which also features a vintage tractors show belongs.
Education
The schools in Plymouth Plymouth - Shiloh belong to the Local School District. All three public schools this school district located on campus in the Trux Street in Plymouth. These are the Plymouth - Shiloh Elementary School, the Shiloh Middle School, and the Plymouth High School.
