Pneumobilia
Under a aerobilia - Greek: aer, eros (air) and Latin: bilis ( bile) - to be understood in the bile ducts by means of X-ray, computed tomography or ultrasound detectable bubbles.
The reasons are:
- A (therapeutic ) sphincterotomy in the context of ERCP
- A biliodigestive anastomosis ( surgical connection of bile duct and intestine)
- Biliodigestive a fistula ( spontaneously resulting compound of bile duct and intestine)
- At Steinperforation into the intestinal tract with obstruction of the duodenum ( Bouveret 's syndrome) or obstruction of the terminal small intestine and in the context of gallstone gallstone disease. ( Hence the clinical triad: aerobilia, small bowel obstruction, possibly stone shadow of a sonographic examination )
- Rare gas-forming bacteria ( such as Clostridium perfringens ) emphysematosa at a cholecystitis or cholangitis.
