Pniewy

Pniewy ( German tiller ) is a town in Poland, in Wielkopolska. It is the seat of city and rural community in the powiat Szamotulski.

Geography

Geographical Location

Pniewy is located in western Poland, approximately 50 kilometers west of Poznan. To the west lies the lake Pniewy ( Jezioro Pniewskie ).

History

The first mention of today Pniewy dates back to 1256th city charter was the place possibly at the end of the 13th century or in the 14th century. In the third partition of Poland was the place part of Prussia. These membership in 1807 and 1815, interrupted by the inclusion in the Duchy of Warsaw. In 1888 the town was connected to the railway network from Poznan to Birnbaum ( Międzychód ). 1893, the volunteer fire department was established. After the First World War in 1920 the town was part of the revived Poland. In September 1939, the Wehrmacht invaded Poland Pniewy as part of their campaign. The Germans facing a labor camp for Jews. In early 1944, a camp for the Reich Labor Service was established, which was dissolved again in the autumn of the year. The crew ended up at the end of World War II on January 25, 1945., The German population was, if not already fled, driven out.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

In the city the country road 24 starts ( droga Krajowa 24), which runs in a westerly direction. It ends after about 70 kilometers south of Gorzów Wielkopolski to the junction with the main road 22 also puts a country road 92 by Pniewy. To the east they continue on for about 50 kilometers through poses. In the south Pniewys it changes direction and leads south from the town where the 92 north of the Autostrada A2 meets the European Route 30 after about 20 kilometers. To the north, the voivodship road leads 187 ( droga wojewódzka 187).

The main train station is decommissioned. For remote connections, there are bus services to the PKS ( Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Samochodowej )

The nearest international airport is Lawica, about 40 kilometers east of Pniewy.

Education

In Pniewy there is a primary school ( SzkoĹ Podstawowa ), a middle school ( gimnazjum ), the school complex Emilia Sczaniecka ( Zespół Szkół in. Emilii Sczanieckiej ) and the school complex of the Sisters of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of the Heart of Jesus in agony.
