P&O Nedlloyd

Royal P & O Nedlloyd NV was the name of a global container shipping line based in London and Rotterdam. The company is since August 2005 the Danish AP Møller- Mærsk Group, the line has been running since February 2006 under the name Maersk Line.

History

The company was founded in December 1996 as a joint venture of the Company P & O Containers Limited (formerly Overseas Containers Limited ) and Nedlloyd. In 1998, the company 's container business of Blue Star Line and later the British Harrison Line and the U.S. Farrell Lines ( 2000).

In April 2004 Royal Nedlloyd acquired all the shares. The company was incorporated as Royal P & O Nedlloyd NV in the Euro Euronext Amsterdam. It was the third largest container freight company in the world.

In May 2005, AP Møller - Mærsk published plans for the takeover of P & O Nedlloyd for 2.3 billion euros. On August 13, 2005, the purchase was made, the world's largest line had formed. In February 2006, the name of Maersk Line was acquired.

The company had 160 owned and chartered vessels with 635,000 TEU.
