Pocatello is the county seat and with 54,255 inhabitants also the largest city of Bannock County in the U.S. state of Idaho.

Geography

Pocatello is located on nearly 1,360 meters above sea level in the Snake River Plain in southwestern Idaho and extends into the Power County. Pocatello is surrounded by the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, in the Shoshone Bannock Indians live. The town was founded as a trading post by fur traders and grew thanks to a gold rush and as a stopping point for the Utah and Northern Railway, one of the main east - west connections for intra -US freight.
