Podsafe

The term was coined by the Podsafe Podcasting and referred works, mostly pieces of music that are licensed, that they may be used free in the U.S. for podcasts. Often these plants are generally free to use, it is also possible that a title has only been released for free use for podcasts, with other distribution channels (eg, radio or television), however, a fee is payable. In Germany and Switzerland the works by GEMA, SUISA or can be recycled, and such fees will be due.

For rights holders such licensing has several advantages. Podcasts are produced mostly privately and without any commercial intent. Thus, the author does not get to be exploited feel like it might be the case for TV productions. Although Podcasts by a large, sometimes international audience is addressed, this is usually on the lookout for fresh ideas and alternatives outside the mainstream. For the artist, podcasting is therefore an effective way to make himself and his works known among its target group. If the music is played in a Music Podcast, this happens usually be announced with an announcement in the information such as the address of the band's website, a possibly released album or dates for live performances by the band.
