Poenulus

Poenulus (literally "The Little Carthaginian " ) is one of the comedies of the Roman poet Plautus obtained. It is written in Latin, contains in the fifth act, but also a short passage in Punic, the figure of the Punic Hanno speaks what semitistisch and philological today evokes a certain interest in the piece. The dating of the piece is still controversial, but it is believed that a premiere is likely to have taken place about ten years after the end of the Second Punic War.
