Pogača

Scones are round, savory pastries, which belong in the Carpathian Basin, the Balkans and Turkey to the typical kitchen.

The spelling scone is popular in Germany and Austria. In the Slovenian and Croatian them is pogača, Serbian and Bulgarian and Turkish погача Pogaca. About the South Slavic languages ​​, the term came into Hungarian, where they are known as pogácsa.

The name derives from the late Latin word * focacia ( " fried dough " ), a variation of the word focus ( " hearth", " pan "). The Italian flatbread focaccia, French fouace (or Fouasse ) and fougasse and the Spanish Hogaza also have the same etymological origin.
