The nature reserve covers 33 hectares on parts of the communities Roggenstorf ( district Greven stone) and Damshagen ( districts Welzin and Pohnstorf ) and was on 27 June 2005 under the official number N 326 reported. It is used for permanent preservation, conservation and development of a biotope complex of partially wooded Kalkflachmooren, wet and moist meadows and poor grass hills.

History

The area is nestled in a glacial terminal moraine created. The Pohnstorfer Moor was formed by the silting up of a lime - mesotrophic lake.
