Poids-de-Fiole

Poids -de- Fiole is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Poids -de- Fiole is located on 540 m above sea level. M., about ten kilometers southeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in the extreme south of the plateau Caledonia (first Jura plateau ), between the heights of the Bois du Chanois in the west and the Côte de l' Today in the East.

The area of ​​6.49 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the level of the plateau Caledonia, the average at 530 m above sea level. M. is and is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. History

The territory of Poids -de- Fiole was inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period, of which the foundations of a Roman estate testify. First mentioned is the place in the 13th century. The place name Poids -de- Fiole evolved from the earlier Puits -de- Fiole. It goes back to seven Roman Fountain ( Puits ), which were arranged in the form of a vial. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. In 1820 merged Poids -de- Fiole with Nogna, but was again separated in 1839 and since then has been an independent municipality.

Population

With 307 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Poids -de- Fiole one of the small towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 224 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded particularly during the 1970s again. Since the 80s, however, the population is declining again.

Economy and infrastructure

Poids -de- Fiole was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It is located near the main road N78, which runs from Lons -le- Saunier to Saint -Laurent -en- Grandvaux. Further road links exist with Dompierre -sur -Mont, Marnézia and Nogna.
