Poitín

Potcheen (also poteen, Irish Poitín [ p ʲ i ː n ˠ oc ], German Moonlight ) is a common Irish spirit made from barley. The name derives from pot (pot ) and points out that it traditionally (illegally) is distilled in small pots. Individual brands up to 90 vol - % contain alcohol. The private production was banned in 1760, but as the legendary Black Brand holding the liquor entered the Irish folk music.

The first feature film to be shot entirely in the Irish language in 1979, had the title Poitín and is about the adventures of a black burner in Connemara.
