Pokljuka

Pokljuka ( ˌ pɔ ˑ ˑ kʎ̯ʊ kɑ ˑ ) is an alpine plateau in northwestern Slovenia. It is located in National Park Triglav in the Julian Alps at 1,300 m. The landscape is dominated by dense pine forests. The plateau terminates in a mountain range, which includes some 2,000 m high mountains. The nearest major town is about 25 kilometers east of the Bled remote.

Biathlon

Pokljuka is known primarily for the discharged here annually biathlon race. The biathlon stadium in Pokljuka is located about 20 km from Bled. Since the early 1990s here regularly race in the context of the Biathlon World Cup instead. Pokljuka was also the host of the Biathlon World Championships 2001.
