Pola de Allande

Pola de Allande ( Asturian La Puela ) is a Parroquia and a place in the community Allande the Autonomous Community of Asturias in northern Spain. The 733 inhabitants ( 2011) living in an area of 34.01 km ². Pola de Allande is also the administrative seat of the municipality Allande.

History

The oldest evidence of human settlement dates back to the Neolithic period. The Dolmen of Filadoira are still impressive evidence for the architecture of the megalithic culture. A persistent colonization of the Castro culture to the Roman Empire evidenced by the numerous military fortifications on the trade routes, which should mainly protect the gold mining areas and transports. The first written mention is Pola de Allande in the 10th century, in a ( fake ) certificate of the church will be awarded economic rights in the community. The Monastery of San Juan Bautista in 1044 Corias are large parts of the region donated. Conflict with the Archdiocese of Oviedo occurred in 1262 and 1268, when Bishop Pedro fixed the tithes to be paid to 110 maravedis. Allande allied with the Council of the municipality of Avilés and was able to maintain order. Alfonso IX. finally granted the privilege for the two communities to be an official pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago.
