Polder model

As a polder in the Netherlands is called the land that is reclaimed from the sea by joint work ( terrain below sea level).

Under the polder model is understood in the Netherlands organized cooperation between employers, trade unions and independent members appointed by the Government in the Economic Council ( Sociaal Economische Raad ). The Wassenaar Agreement of 1982 is considered the date at which the term " polder model " was first used for the approaches of the economic and labor market policy in the Netherlands.

The Dutch consensus model existed for some time. It goes back to the Middle Ages. Back then, farmers had, nobles, townspeople and other citizens work together to build dikes and maintain. That alone was thus possible that was regardless of the state, working together. The search for consensus is a typical feature of Dutch politics.
