Pole, Hungarian, two little brothers are the opening words of an ancient proverb that exists in both the Hungarian and Polish language since the Middle Ages and a deep friendship between the two peoples expresses that continues to this day and is unique among international relations.

A genetic study, which was published in the scientific journal Science, has demonstrated a genetic relationship of populations of Poland and Hungary. Day of Polish- Hungarian friendship

On 12 March 2007 the Hungarian Parliament adopted a law that sets the day of March 23 as the "Day of Polish- Hungarian friendship ." The document was adopted by 324 deputies, no votes against and abstentions. An analogous effect was approved by the Polish Sejm on March 16 of the same year.
