Police ranks of the United Kingdom

The British police forces use these ranks, where the members of the judicial police, the name " Detective " rather than " Police" is put forward (for example, Police Sergeant and Detective Sergeant ).

Rank badges are usually worn as shoulder straps, but Constable and Sergeants wear no shoulder flaps when they use a uniform with closed collar. Sergeants will wear their badge on the upper arm. Constables and Sergeants wear their unit number as a collar insignia.

At the Police Service of Northern Ireland ( PSNI ) the badge of the PSNI is used instead of the crown. The badge of the Isle of Man Constabulary for Police Constables and Police Sergeant differ by an additional badge in the form of coat of arms of the Authority on the shoulder flap.
