Polis, Cyprus

Polis Chrysochous, Greek Πόλις Χρυσοχούς, is a seaside town in the Paphos district on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The place often just Polis ( Greek for town ), is located north of the district capital of Pafos.

The municipal area is located next to the actual Polis Latchi also, a small harbor town. Both places have long sand and pebble beaches and are dominated by tourism.

The Akamas peninsula, a nature reserve today, is close to the two places. The so-called Baths of Aphrodite are here. According to legend, Aphrodite is said to have been waiting for Adonis while he was killed by the jealous Ares.

Polis has a hospital. In addition, the Roman Catholic Church in Cyprus has a chaplaincy here.
