Polish Press Agency

Polska Agencja Prasowa (PAP ) is the state news agency of the country of Poland. It is required by law to report comprehensively on the work of Polish state organs such as the Sejm and Senate.

History

On October 31, 1918 some journalists took over in Krakow and Lviv the offices of the former Austrian press agency and founded the Polska Agencja Telegraficzna (PAT ). A week later she became news agency the new Polish government. Since the year 1928, the newsreel Kroniki Filmowe PAT was published.

On 17 September 1939 left the management of PAT Poland, the agency worked first in Paris, then in London. In 1991 it was dissolved.

On March 10, 1944 in Moscow founded the pro-Soviet organization Związek Patriotów Polskich the Polska Agencja Prasowa " Polpress ". In September 1945, their offices moved to Warsaw. In the years 1990 and 1991, due to political change, the management of the agency was changed.

Since 1958, she will host a selection of Europe's Sportsman of the Year.

In 1999 started Dziennik Internetowy PAP, the first Internet newspaper in Poland.
