Politeia

The Politie (Greek πολιτεία ) is, according to Aristotle, the name given to a community that is directed and guided by the rational or reasonable person to its members. In Aristotle's Politics, the polity is one of the good forms of government, it is the legitimate majority rule.

After the first form of state doctrine in the politics of Aristotle ( Arist. Pol III. 6 ff ) it is one of the three good constitutions. As a contrast to the polity is the bad democracy. In the second form of state doctrine ( which is based on empirical observations: Arist Pol IV and VI. . ) Is the Politie a mixed constitution between the oligarchy and democracy, the official will be selected ( and not solved, as in the Athenian democracy ), but no or only a small barrier to the approval of the election participants exist ( this in turn modeled on the democracy).
