The Polk County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bartow.

History

The Polk County was formed on February 8, 1861 from the eastern part of Hillsborough County. It was named after James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States. His term lasted from 1845 to 1849.

Geography
