Polk County (Georgia)

The Polk County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cedartown.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Georgia, on the west by Alabama and has an area of 808 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Floyd County, Bartow County, Paulding County and Haralson County.

History

Polk County was formed on December 20, 1851 from parts of Floyd County and Paulding County. It was named after James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States.
