Pollera Nera

Pollera Nera is an indigenous red grape variety of Valla Magra in the Liguria and Tuscany in Italy northwestern region. It is there, for example in the Denominazione di origine controllata - Red Wine Colli di Luni used Rosso. In the 1990s, the area under vines was almost 103 hectares. The largest stocks were doing in the province of Massa- Carrara. Written mention was the variety in 1825 as widespread vine in the regions of Cinque Terre and Massa- Carrara.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is woolig hairy, greenish in color, with light bronze approach. The bright green young leaves are slightly hairy.
  • The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and distinctly sinuate ( see also the article sheet form). The petiole is U-shaped open. The sheet is cut sharply. The teeth are medium in size compared to the varieties.
  • The cone- shaped grape is shouldered, medium to large and dichtbeerig. The roundish berries are medium to large in size and of a bluish - reddish color. The aroma of the berry is fairly neutral.

The grape ripens about 35 days after Chasselas and is thus very late, even for northern Italian standards maturing. Pollera Nera is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is self fruiting. When viticulture thus does not arise, the economic disadvantage, not revenue yielding to have male plants grow.
