Pollock (Film)

Pollock is an American biography of the American painter Jackson Pollock from the year 2000. Directed by co-star Ed Harris.

Action

Jackson Pollock, an embittered American painter learns a vernissage 1941 the young artist Lee Krasner know. The young woman is interested in the painter and his works. They are a couple. When Lee the outstanding talent on the Jackson has noted, they neglected to support it for him her own career. Peggy Guggenheim agrees to issue Pollock's works in her gallery Art of This Century in Manhattan. The exhibition is a great success, Pollock's name is on everyone's lips. The Life Magazine even describes him as one of the most important artists in the world. But the fame rises Pollock soon to head. Even before not averse to alcohol, he now drinks to excess. His wife stories - including Peggy Guggenheim - destroying his relationship with Lee.

The main roles of the film should actually Robert De Niro and Barbra Streisand take over.

The film is the directorial debut of actor Ed Harris. The double burden as director and star was so unusual and great that he suffered a collapse and had a short time to the hospital.

Harris was given a book about Pollock. Since the time Harris was fascinated by the painter.

The cover of Life Magazine issue with Pollock shows Debbie Reynolds, who has a cameo in the film. The title page of 8 August 1949 which is used in the film is real, the pages with the article on Pollock were reproductions with the face of Harris.
