The Pollock - Krasner Foundation Award has existed since 1985. It was founded by Lee Krasner ( 1908-1984 ), a painter of abstract expressionism, who was with Jackson Pollock ( 1912-1956 ), ( Action Painting), married.

The Foundation aims to support professional, freelance artists financially. Through the Pollock - Krasner Foundation is to allow that the career will continue. The foundation has so far paid out 54 million dollars to artists in 72 countries.
