Polly Bergen

Polly Bergen (* July 14, 1930 in Knoxville, Tennessee; Nellie Paulina Burgin actually ) is an American actress and singer.

Life and achievements

Polly Bergen debuted at the end of the 1940s. For her performance in the television series Playhouse 90 she won an Emmy Award in 1956. For her starring role in the film drama women who may not love (1963 ) she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and for the Laurel Award. In the comedy prince consort in the White House (1964 ) she played the lead role of U.S. President Leslie McCloud.

Bergen played in the comedy Making Mr. Right - A man à la Carte (1987 ) alongside John Malkovich and Ann Magnuson. For their roles in the television series The Winds of War and Firestorm and ashes, she was nominated in 1983 and 1989 for an Emmy Award. Since 2005 it occurs in some episodes of the TV series Commander in Chief on. There she plays the role of Kate Allen, the mother of U.S. President Mackenzie Allen, played by Geena Davis.

In 2001, Bergen was nominated for her role in the musical Follies for the Tony Award.

Polly Bergen was married three times: in the years 1954 to 1955, Jerome Courtland, from 1956 to 1975 with the film producer Freddie Fields, and from 1982 to 1990 with Jeffrey Endervelt. She has a child by Fields, two children she adopted.
