Polly Toynbee

Polly Toynbee (prop, Mary Louisa T.; * December 27, 1946 on the Isle of Wight ) is a British journalist and civil rights activist. Since July 2007 she has been President of the British Humanist Association.

Life

Toynbee is the daughter of literary critic Philip Toynbee and granddaughter of the historian Arnold J. Toynbee. Also it is related to the economic historian Arnold Toynbee. She worked for many years as a columnist for The Guardian and the BBC. She also worked for other well-known media. It is considered a social democratic and politically engaged. Toynbee is a dedicated representative of atheism and is the National Secular Society and the Humanist Society of Scotland close. She criticizes Christianity, Islam and Judaism alike because of their " disgust " towards women's rights. She is also a critic of the British monarchy. She was married to Peter Jenkins and is currently in a relationship with David Walker. She was awarded for her services on 22 November 2007 in Canterbury Cathedral from the University of Kent an academic degree as an award. The ceremony took place in the context of the general graduation ceremony.
