Polo is a city in Ogle County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000, Polo had 2477 inhabitants; by 2009, the population remained relatively stable. The namesake of the city is the Italian Marco Polo.
His motto, " Gateway to the Pines " of the town is the nearby White Pines Forest State Park. 1856 was the future U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in the city to visit.
Geography
Polo is located at 41 ° 59'13 " north latitude and 89 ° 34'34 " west longitude. The city covers 3.37 km ², which consist exclusively of land area.
