Polocrosse

Polocrosse is a combination of polo and lacrosse, which is played on horseback.

Team

A Polocrosse team consists of six players. Each three players on a team playing in a chukka ( game time). It will be played six to eight chukkas. A Chukka takes a maximum of eight minutes. The one player per team is number 1 for attack, a player wears the number 2 for the midfield and a player wears the number 3 on defense.

Horse

Each player is only allowed to start to be able to play except in the case of injury with the permission of the judge with a spare horse with a horse in every tournament. Although there is no restriction on the height of the horses, the ideal height is about 1.50 m.

Pitches and Equipment

The playing field is 146.5 times 55 m. The playing field is divided into three areas ( attack, midfield, defense) that may be entered by each of the respective players. The goal posts are at the respective end face and are each 2.5 m apart. The 27.5 m wide goal area is defined by the criminal line. In opposing goal area, the attacker 's own team and the defenders of the opposing team may reside. The number 2 is allowed to play only in the 91.5 m wide central area. The No. 3 is the only player who can defend the goal.

Game History

Players and horses of a team stand behind one another in the middle of the field. The Player with the same number are parallel to each other. The ball is thrown by the referee straight toward the player.

History and distribution

The game originated in the 1930s in Australia. In Germany it was not introduced until 2004. Polocross Ever volumes are available in the following countries: Australia, Germany, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay and Vanuatu.
