Polonaise

The Polonaise ( from the French: danse polonaise " Polish Dance ", as Italian and Polish: Polacca as referred Polonez ), according to Duden also Polonaise, is originally a corporative dance of the Polish nobility ( szlachta ). It is a solemn paced dance in 3/4-time, who won in this form after 1700. The Auftanz is a popular simplification of the Polonaise.

History

Danced in the 16th century in 4/4-time of the Polish dignitaries as a tribute to Poland, it spread by Henry III. first in France and then throughout Europe.
